Inktober #3 — "Time to Play!"

Kids, close your eyes a minute. Things are about to get scary! For today's Inktober drawing, Kyle paid tribute to Pinhead, one of our favorite horror movie bad guys, from the movie Hellraiser. Don't worry — Smash wouldn't let this creep get within a foot of any of you!

Inktober #2 — "The Monster Returns"

For Kyle's second Inktober picture, he paid tribute to a modern classic: Bernie Wrightson's illustrations for Frankenstein. We used to pore over our copy of this book when we were younger, and Wrightson's stunning illustrations were a major early influence for Kyle's artwork.

ZITA the Spacegirl Meets SMASH!

We've been looking forward to a team-up of Ben Hatke's fantastic Zita the Spacegirl with our super-powered 10-year-old hero. Let's hope the combined powers of Smash and Zita can keep the galaxy safe!

John Carter Artwork by Kyle Bolton

Poor John Carter got a bum deal from Hollywood. (Or from the moviegoing audience, depending on how much you liked Disney's John Carter movie.) But we still love Edgar Rice Burroughs's classic adventure novels — and here is Kyle's tribute to the Warlord of Mars. (Click the image for a bigger version.)

SMASH Saves Han Solo!

By now we've all heard the sad news that Harrison Ford will be out of action for several weeks after his ankle was injured on the set of the new Star Wars film. Kyle can't help but wonder how things might have turned out differently if Smash had been around to give Han Solo a hand... (Click the image for a bigger version.)
